Anodizing: The Aluminum Extrusion Enhancement

Anodizing is an electrochemical process that fortifies aluminum’s natural oxide surface layer, rendering it exceptionally resilient and available in various translucent shades. The procedure involves thoroughly cleaning, rinsing, and etching aluminum extrusions before submersion in an acid electrolyte bath. As an electric current passes through, oxygen ions from the electrolyte bond with surface aluminum atoms, creating a robust oxide layer that resists chipping, peeling, and corrosion. This exceptional durability and color versatility make anodizing a preferred choice for architectural products, home appliances, furniture, boats, sporting goods, and personal electronics.

Performance attributes like hardness and porosity are influenced by alloy selection, the anodizing process, treatment duration, and chemistry.
